The sense of being always on the outside, unwanted unless he can make himself useful, disliked for existing. His whole life seems to revolve around being as inoffensive and pleasant as possible, so he'll be allowed to stay around other people. Has never felt that love is reciprocated, nor that he deserves for it to be.
